Interbank closing: PKR gains 19.5 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a minor depreciation of approximately 9 paisa against the US dollar (USD) this week, closing at PKR 278.21 per USD, down from last week’s closing rate of PKR 278.12 per USD.

In a notable rebound during today’s trading session, the PKR appreciated by 19.5 paisa against the USD. Throughout Friday, the rupee fluctuated, reaching an intraday high (bid) of 278.65 and a low (ask) of 278.45.

On the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.3 for buying and PKR 279.5 for selling.

In comparison to other major currencies, the Saudi Riyal closed at PKR 74.18, reflecting a loss of 5.2 paisa from the previous day’s value of PKR 74.23. The U.A.E. Dirham also depreciated, decreasing by 5.41 paisa from PKR 75.74 to PKR 75.8.

Conversely, the PKR strengthened against the Euro, gaining 86.59 paisa and closing at PKR 301.84, up from PKR 302.71.

Similarly, the British Pound became cheaper by 1.05 rupees, closing at PKR 351.95 compared to PKR 353 the previous day.

Against the Japanese Yen, the PKR appreciated slightly by 1.8 paisa, ending at PKR 1.7847, compared to PKR 1.8027.

The Chinese Yuan saw a decline of 5.85 paisa, closing at PKR 38.51 against the previous rate of PKR 38.57.

The Swiss Franc experienced a significant loss of 3.16 rupees, ending at PKR 306.15, down from PKR 309.3 in the prior session.

These mixed movements highlight the ongoing volatility and fluctuations of the PKR against major international currencies.
