Interbank closing: PKR declines by over 10 paisa against USD


US dollar to Pakistani rupee interbank closing

WEB DESK: In Wednesday’s interbank session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated marginally by 10.31 paisa against the US dollar (USD).

The local currency closed at PKR 278.4 versus USD, compared to the previous day’s closing of PKR 278.3 per USD.

During the session, the rupee saw an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.5 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.25. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 280 for selling.

The PKR showed mixed performance against major currencies. It gained 11.09 paisa against the Euro, closing at PKR 301.73 compared to the previous value of PKR 301.84.

The Swiss franc saw an increase of 1.01 rupees, closing at PKR 305.07 compared to PKR 304.05 in the previous session.

Against the Japanese Yen, the PKR gained 0.2 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7716 from PKR 1.7736. The Chinese Yuan saw a slight depreciation, closing at PKR 38.41, unchanged from the previous session.

However, the British Pound became more expensive by 88.3 paisa, closing at PKR 355.27 from PKR 354.39.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Riyal gained 2.55 paisa, closing at PKR 74.23 from PKR 74.2. The U.A.E Dirham increased by 2.39 paisa, closing at PKR 75.77 compared to PKR 75.8 a day ago.
