CHITRAL: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced the establishment of a “Danish School” in Chitral, describing it as a “gift” for the people of the region that will provide free and quality education to local children.
Speaking at a ceremony in Chitral, the premier said the Danish School project will be a modern educational initiative modelled after Aitchison College, and that it will be inaugurated next year.
He said that no one had requested a Danish School for Chitral — “this is my personal gift to the people,” he said — emphasising that providing facilities to citizens is the state’s responsibility.
Shehbaz also announced the construction of a new hospital and a university for Upper Chitral, in addition to ongoing road development projects aimed at improving travel and connectivity in the region.
He said Chitral is one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s most beautiful areas, and its people are “brave, patriotic, civilised and peace-loving.”
The prime minister said that the federal government is using national resources to ensure facilities reach remote areas and that 100,000 laptops were distributed among bright students across the country a day earlier.
“By providing our youth with quality education, we will build a great Pakistan,” he said.
Recalling Pakistan’s recent military engagements, the prime minister stated that the country had inflicted a humiliating defeat on India in a four-day battle, crediting Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership for the victory.
He also noted that former US President Donald Trump played a key role in the ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
Shehbaz added that when Sohail Afridi was elected as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister, he personally called to congratulate him and assured full federal cooperation with the provincial government.
