PM calls Raqami Islamic Bank’s digital licence boost to Pakistan–Kuwait ties

WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday described the issuance of a digital banking licence to Raqami Islamic Bank as a significant step forward in strengthening Pakistan–Kuwait relations, particularly in the economic sphere.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad held to mark the granting of the licence, the prime minister congratulated the chairman of the Raqami board and concerned officials on the achievement. He said the move was not only important for the growth of digital Islamic banking in Pakistan but also symbolised deepening cooperation between the two countries.

PM Shehbaz noted that Pakistan and Kuwait share decades-long fraternal relations, stressing that the time had come to translate strong political ties into meaningful economic cooperation. He said both countries must work together to expand relations in investment, trade and broader economic collaboration.

The prime minister said Pakistan was keen to move forward in close coordination with the Kuwaiti leadership to build a strong economic partnership. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming shared goals of development and prosperity into practical outcomes through joint initiatives and sustained cooperation.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, representatives of Raqami Islamic Bank and other stakeholders from the financial sector.
