PM chairs meeting on power sector reforms to boost industry and agriculture

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday chaired a review meeting on the Power Division’s proposed reform package aimed at supporting the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the Power Division to formulate comprehensive and effective policy recommendations to enhance national industrial production. He stressed that all institutions linked to industrial output must take every possible measure to facilitate industrialists and investors.

Shehbaz Sharif said that providing maximum support to the agriculture and industry sectors remains among the government’s top priorities. He added that efforts should be focused on ensuring the most efficient use of the country’s power generation capacity to strengthen industrial and agricultural productivity.

The Prime Minister noted that optimal utilisation of electricity could significantly contribute to increasing production in both sectors.

Officials from the Power Division briefed the Prime Minister on the proposed reform package, outlining potential measures for the effective and efficient use of electricity across the country.
