PM expresses concern after three Pakistanis injured at UAE port debris fire

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he was “deeply concerned” after an incident at a port in the United Arab Emirates left several civilians, including Pakistani nationals, injured amid heightened regional tensions.
In a post on X, Sharif said an intercepted projectile at Khor Fakkan port in United Arab Emirates had caused injuries and added that Pakistan was in close contact with Emirati authorities to ensure support for its citizens.
“We pray for the swift recovery of the injured and remain in close contact with UAE authorities to ensure all necessary support is extended to our citizens,” he said.
According to media reports, at least three Pakistani nationals were among those injured when debris from a drone or intercepted projectile fell near the port area in Khor Fakkan,.
The incident comes amid escalating tensions linked to the Iran conflict, with regional security concerns affecting parts of the Gulf.
Sharif said Pakistan stood in solidarity with the “brotherly people” of the UAE and reiterated the need for restraint.
“Pakistan stands in solidarity with the brotherly people of the UAE and reiterates the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation in the region,” he said.
Authorities in the UAE have not reported major damage, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
