PM Kakar meets Palestinian President in Riyadh

PM Kakar meets Palestine president

RIYADH: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar met with President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The encounter took place within the framework of the Extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), convened to address the critical situation in occupied Palestine arising from the aggression of Israeli occupation forces in both Gaza and the West Bank.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed unwavering solidarity from Pakistan with the Palestinian people.

He strongly condemned the indiscriminate use of force by Israeli occupation forces, denouncing the bombing of hospitals, refugee camps, schools, and residential buildings.

These actions have tragically resulted in the loss of more than ten thousand lives and the forced displacement of Palestinian families.

President Abbas expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s solidarity during this challenging time and commended its principled stance on the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people.

Both leaders emphasised the urgent need for an unconditional ceasefire, an end to the siege of Gaza, and the seamless delivery of vital humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the affected population. They highlighted the necessity of international collaboration to prevent further bloodshed by Israel.

Prime Minister Kakar and President Abbas acknowledged the timeliness of the Extraordinary Summit of the OIC.

They appealed to the global community, particularly the United Nations and its relevant organisations, to take resolute measures to uphold principles of justice and humanity and bring an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Prime Minister Kakar underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to a fair and enduring resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

This commitment is grounded in the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital along borders that existed prior to 1967, as enshrined in several OIC resolutions.
