PM Kakar orders stern action against religious extremists in G-B

GILGIT: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has ordered stern action against individuals spreading religious extremism in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
At a high-level briefing in Gilgit, Prime Minister Kakar was apprised of the prevailing law and order situation in the region. The prime minister emphasized the need for timely identification of extremist elements and taking stern action against them.
He reiterated that safeguarding the security of all citizens of Pakistan is the state’s responsibility
The interim premier was apprised of the progress in development projects and the security situation concerning the region.
During the briefing, the caretaker ime minister was informed about advancements in various sectors, including information technology, healthcare, education, and more.
The briefing highlighted that several issues related to education in all areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, especially in Diamer and Skardu, had been timely identified and effectively addressed.

He was informed of the measures taken in the field of education included programmes to provide students with meals, the construction of modern educational facilities, the renovation of dilapidated buildings, professional training for teachers, and the establishment of state-of-the-art smart schools.
Furthermore, the prime minister was informed about positive initiatives in the healthcare sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. In response to the increasing prevalence of psychological disorders, a 24-hour helpline has been established to address mental health issues, the meeting was informed.
The briefing also covered positive developments in environmental and tourism sectors. Additionally, the interim prime minister was briefed on subsidies for wheat cultivation, electricity production, and the current state of budgetary matters in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Kakar directed the Gilgit-Baltistan administration and political leadership to assess the benefits of all ongoing development projects.
The meeting was attended by Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan and other senior officials.
