PM Kakar to address UNGA session on Friday

NEW YORK: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is slated to address the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday, September 22, as per the official schedule released by the United Nations.

The “General Debate,” commencing at 9 am today (Tuesday), will open with an address from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Following him, UNGA President Dennis Francis, a diplomat from Trinidad and Tobago, will preside over the proceedings for the entire week.

PM Kakar kicks off five-day visit to US

In accordance with tradition, Brazil will deliver the first national delegation address, followed by the host country of the United Nations, the United States.

Prime Minister Kakar’s speech will encompass Pakistan’s perspective on various regional and global issues, including the longstanding unresolved matter of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which remains on the UN Agenda.

Additionally, he will detail the significant measures undertaken by the government to strengthen Pakistan’s economic recovery and its efforts to attract domestic and foreign investments.

During his stay, the Prime Minister will engage in meetings with global leaders on the sidelines of the UNGA session. He will also participate in a pivotal conference addressing climate change.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister is scheduled to interact with the international media and visit prominent US think tanks.
