PM pays respects at Khamenei funeral, conveys Pakistan’s condolences

WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday led a Pakistani delegation to Tehran to pay his respects and convey the deepest condolences of the government and the people of Pakistan at the funeral ceremony of the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Shaheed Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
The prime minister was accompanied by a high-level political and military leadership, highlighting the deep-rooted ties and solidarity between the two neighboring countries.
The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, alongside senior cabinet ministers and top government officials.
A legacy remembered
During the solemn ceremony at the Grand Mosalla in Tehran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to the departed leader, stating that the late Supreme Leader’s wisdom, vision, and profound influence on Iran and the wider region would be remembered for generations to come.
He also recorded his reflections in the condolence book, underscoring the deep impact of the Ayatollah’s long leadership across the Islamic world.
The prime minister held interactions with the Iranian leadership, reiterating that Pakistan stands firmly with its brotherly neighbor in this period of immense national grief.
The multi-day funeral rites for the late Supreme Leader are being attended by a large number of foreign dignitaries, state emissaries, and millions of local mourners across Iran.
