WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on World Migrants Day paid tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of migrants, saying their true strength lies in their skills, hard work and determination.
In a message issued on the occasion, the prime minister noted that this year’s theme of World Migrants Day is “My journey, my culture and my future”, which, he said, reflects the struggles, diversity and aspirations of migrant communities across the world.
He said multicultural societies progress on the principles of mutual cooperation, respect for rights and inclusivity, adding that migrants play a vital role in social and economic development.
Prime Minister Sharif said the government was working to ensure recognition of the rights and skills of overseas Pakistanis and was placing strong emphasis on providing those going abroad with training that meets international standards.
He added that social training, skills development and foreign language education were being actively promoted to better prepare Pakistani workers for global markets.
The prime minister described overseas Pakistanis as ambassadors of the country and representatives of its culture, noting that remittances exceeding $38 billion serve as a backbone of the national economy and a source of support for millions of families.
