PM Sharif, Defence Minister hail FM Asim Munir as first CDS


Field Marshal Gen Asim Munir appointed Chief of Defence Forces

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday congratulated Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on his appointment as Pakistan’s first-ever Chief of Defence Forces, calling his leadership “fundamental” to what he described as the nation’s “victory in the war of truth.”

In a statement, the Prime Minister praised the Field Marshal’s role in uniting the armed forces and mobilizing the nation during a critical phase.

“All national institutions are united for the defense, development and prosperity of Pakistan,” he said, adding that under Munir’s command, the country would work toward making its defense “truly invincible.”

Shehbaz Sharif said the people of Pakistan would “always remember the courageous and brave war leadership” displayed by the Field Marshal, noting that his command had played a decisive role in national security efforts.

PM CONGRATULATES PAF CHIEF ON SERVICE EXTENSION

The Prime Minister also extended congratulations to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu on the extension of his service. He credited the Air Chief with strengthening Pakistan’s aerial defense capabilities.

“Under his leadership, the Pakistan Air Force destroyed seven enemy fighter jets,” the Prime Minister stated, calling the PAF’s recent performance a demonstration of superior training and strategy.

DEFENCE MINISTER JOINS PRAISE

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also issued congratulatory messages to both senior military leaders. He hailed Field Marshal Munir’s elevation and commended Air Chief Marshal Sidhu on the continuation of his tenure.

Paying tribute to the armed forces, the Defence Minister said, “By the grace and mercy of Allah, the conquerors who blessed the nation and the country with a historic victory, today the nation is honoring the commanders in recognition of their undying service and the millions of defenders of the homeland under their command.”
