ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an extensive telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which he strongly condemned ongoing Israeli attacks on Iran and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people.

According to an official statement, the call lasted over an hour and focused on the evolving regional situation. The prime minister expressed deep concern over recent strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and conveyed condolences over the loss of lives. He also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured and displaced in the attacks.

Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran during what he described as a challenging time, while also thanking President Pezeshkian for acknowledging Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

During the conversation, the prime minister briefed the Iranian leader on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions. He highlighted Islamabad’s engagement with the United States as well as Gulf and other Islamic countries to facilitate dialogue and prevent further escalation.

The call underscores Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role amid rising tensions in the region, as it continues to position itself as a mediator seeking peaceful resolution through dialogue and coordinated international engagement.
