WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on a two-day visit to Qatar on Monday (today) at the invitation of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The visit aims to deepen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and officials will accompany the prime minister during the visit.
The prime minister and the Qatari Amir will review the full range of bilateral relations and chart a course for enhanced strategic engagement.
Deepening economic and strategic convergence
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening collaboration in trade and investment, with particular emphasis on expanding economic exchanges and encouraging greater Qatari investment flows into Pakistan.
Energy cooperation remains a cornerstone of the partnership, with both sides exploring avenues to build upon existing arrangements and consider new initiatives aimed at ensuring reliable and sustainable supplies.
Infrastructure development and connectivity projects also feature prominently, alongside efforts to broaden opportunities for the Pakistani skilled and semi-skilled workforce in Qatar a vital source of remittances and economic support for Pakistan. In addition, both governments are seeking to promote deeper cultural, educational and people-to-people exchanges, reinforcing the social foundations of the relationship.
The leaders are further exchanging views on key regional and global developments, underlining the strategic significance of Pakistan–Qatar ties within a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape. The visit is widely regarded as an opportunity to unlock fresh avenues of cooperation, consolidate the longstanding partnership between Islamabad and Doha, and lay the groundwork for sustained high-level engagement in the years ahead.
