PM Shehbaz announces relief package for KP rain victims

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Peshawar to meet with the families who lost their loved ones and saw destruction of their houses during the recent torrential rains and snowfall.
Expressing deep sympathy, he announced relief package saying that each deceased victim’s family will receive Rs2 million in compensation, while Rs500,000 will be given to each injured individual.
Additionally, the premier said households with completely destroyed homes will receive Rs700,000, and those with partially damaged homes will receive Rs300,000.
Acknowledging the extensive damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the prime minister extended condolences to the 40 lives lost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He assured collaborative efforts between provincial and federal authorities to aid affected families and praised the contributions of various agencies and officials involved in relief efforts, including the provincial government officials, PDMA, police, and administration.
The premier offered special to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor for his significant role.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, the prime minister recalled the catastrophic 2022 rainstorm and the subsequent distribution of Rs100 billion in federal aid.
He stressed the importance of proactive measures against climate change, warning of dire consequences if action was not taken promptly, emphasizing the moral imperative to safeguard future generations.
