ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed hope to secure another bailout package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

While addressing a session of the National Assembly (NA), the Prime Minister stated that the budget had to be formulated in collaboration with the IMF.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a 10 per cent increase in the laptop quota for South Punjab. He also stated that the employment scheme for South Punjab has been enhanced by 10 per cent.

“The motorway projects from Lodhran to Khanewal and from Dera Ghazi Khan to Muzaffargarh were initially federal projects, but Punjab completed them using its own resources,” said the Prime Minister.

Discussing the dissolution of the Public Works Department (PWD), the Prime Minister stated that the issue was not just about their salaries; the real issue was that 50 to 60 per cent of funds were being embezzled.

He added that the government is taking steps to reduce expenditures.
