PM Shehbaz reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to peace, sovereignty

BAKU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, alongside brotherly nations Azerbaijan and Türkiye, while emphasizing that Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are unquestionable.

Addressing Azerbaijan’s Victory Day parade, attended by delegations from Türkiye, he highlighted the strong bonds among the three nations. “What a proud sight to see our armed forces march with their Azerbaijani and Turkish brothers, as JF-17 Thunder jets soar overhead—a symbol of our enduring friendship,” he said.

Recalling August 14 celebrations in Islamabad, he noted that Azerbaijani and Turkish troops had marched with Pakistani forces to honor historic victories. He hailed Azerbaijan’s Karabakh victory as a triumph of justice and a beacon for nations seeking sovereignty, including Gaza and Indian-occupied Kashmir.

The prime minister also praised the support Azerbaijan and Türkiye extended to Pakistan during the May four-day conflict with India, and prayed for Azerbaijan’s martyrs, marking the fifth anniversary of its 44-day war victory.

President Erdogan congratulated Azerbaijan, emphasizing stronger regional trade ties, while President Ilham Aliyev thanked Pakistan and Türkiye for their unwavering support, singling out PM Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s solidarity.

Shehbaz Sharif Friday departed for a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the Victory Day celebrations at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev.
