ISLAMABAD: President of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is scheduled to arrive at the Prime Minister’s House today, where he will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif as part of his ongoing state visit to Pakistan.
Upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s House, President Tokayev will be presented with a guard of honour. Pakistan Television will broadcast the reception ceremony live. The tentative time for the arrival is 9:45 AM. The Kazakh president is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers and government officials.
During the visit, bilateral and delegation-level talks will be held between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Tokayev. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, regional connectivity, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. Several memorandums of understanding and agreements are also expected to be signed to enhance collaboration between the two countries.
President Tokayev arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for his first state visit to Pakistan from February 3 to 4, 2026. He was received at Nur Khan Airbase by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Children dressed in traditional attire, carrying the national flags of Pakistan and Kazakhstan, welcomed the visiting dignitary.
As part of the visit, President Tokayev is also expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum, and engage in discussions aimed at broadening bilateral cooperation in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, and collaboration at regional and international forums.
During his stay, President Tokayev will be conferred the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian award, by President Asif Ali Zardari at a special investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The award is being bestowed in recognition of his services to strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. A state banquet will also be hosted in his honour.
The visit reflects the growing ties between Pakistan and Central Asian states and underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Kazakhstan to translating historic and cultural linkages into stronger economic, political, and regional cooperation.
