ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Bahrain on November 26 and 27, foreign office said on Tuesday.

The visit is aimed at deepening linkages between the two countries, reinforcing their “traditionally warm and cordial ties,” and identifying new avenues of partnership, according to foreign office.

It also highlights Pakistan’s continued engagement with Bahrain to build a results-oriented and strategic partnership.

Shehbaz will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as federal ministers and senior officials.

During the visit, he will hold high-level meetings with Bahraini leadership to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology, education, and culture.

The FO says the visit also seeks to deepen people-to-people linkages.

Furthermore, the two countries are exploring enhanced cooperation in security-related areas. In a recent agreement, they established a Joint Working Group for counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, border security, immigration, and police training.

They also plan to sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on extradition, mutual legal assistance, and specialized battalion training.

The visit is expected to be a milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation. Notably, over 120,000 Pakistanis live in Bahrain, contributing significantly to both countries.
