Govt to ensure security of Chinese nationals: PM

Shehbaz Sharif

DASU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Monday that the government is fully committed to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens and initiatives within Pakistan, leaving no measure unexplored in this regard.

He delivered these comments while addressing engineers from a Chinese company involved in the dam project in Upper Kohistan’s Dasu.

The visit occurred shortly after the tragic incident on March 26, where five Chinese engineers, along with their Pakistani driver, lost their lives in a suicide bombing while en route from Islamabad to a hydroelectric dam construction site in Dasu, located in the northwestern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The bus was targeted in the city of Bisham, located in KP’s Shangla district.

“The enemies of Pakistan are behind the Basham incident, said the Prime Minister. “The friendship between Pakistan and China is strengthening with time, Prime Minister. “We will not let anyone harm Pak-China friendship,” he added.

He further said that the Pakistani government will provide all possible security to Chinese engineers.

“We will provide full-proof security to Chinese engineers and workers, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.”

The PM continued by adding that the elements involved in the Basham incident would be severely punished, Prime Minister Shehbaz.

“I want to assure my Chinese brothers that I will not rest until we have implemented security for you not just at Dasu, but all over Pakistan,” he said.

“This is the job of the enemies of Pakistan […] The enemies of this friendship do not spare any opportunity to damage and create this rift between these two iron brothers.”
