WEB DESK: Cold, dry weather is set to prevail across much of the country on Tuesday as temperatures dip further. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the hilly regions brace for severe morning and nighttime chills today.
PMD said that most areas will experience a largely stable weather pattern, though upper regions may see partly cloudy skies by evening, and plains in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to contend with smog and patches of fog during early and late hours.
Going region by region, in the capital, Islamabad, residents can expect a crisp, dry day that will give way to partly cloudy skies later at night.
Across Punjab, the cold, dry spell will grip most districts, with Murree, Galiyat and nearby hill stations facing particularly harsh temperatures during the darker hours. Fog is expected to thicken around Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Jhelum, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Layyah and Kot Addu, potentially slowing early morning and evening travel.
Sindh will remain mostly dry, with a noticeable bite in the air during morning and nighttime, the PMD said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prepares for cold, dry conditions throughout its districts. The province’s hilly terrain is likely to see a sharp plunge in temperatures, and upper regions may cloud over as the day ends. Light smog or fog could develop in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and DI Khan, affecting visibility.
Balochistan will not be spared from the cold either, with dry conditions widespread and northern districts facing extreme lows overnight.
Further up north, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also bracing for a frigid Tuesday, marked by dry weather, intense cold at daybreak and nightfall, and the possibility of partly cloudy skies as evening approaches.
