PMD predicts dry cold on Wednesday, citizens advised to be cautious

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Wednesday, with very cold to extremely cold conditions in hilly and northern regions, according to the forecast.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that in the plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, fog is likely to affect visibility, particularly during the morning and night hours.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain cold and dry, while fog may develop during the early morning and nighttime.

Across Punjab, most districts will experience cold and dry conditions, with very cold weather expected in Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas. Moderate to heavy fog is likely in several districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

In Sindh, cold and dry weather is expected in most districts, while fog is likely to develop in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Mohenjodaro and surrounding areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to experience cold and dry conditions in most districts, with extremely cold weather in the hilly areas. Fog is likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and adjoining areas.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather is forecast for most districts, while northern areas may experience extremely cold conditions during the morning and night.

Meanwhile, extremely cold and dry weather is expected to persist in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday.

Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions against the cold weather, particularly in hilly and northern areas where temperatures may drop significantly. Motorists should remain cautious while traveling in fog-prone regions, especially during early morning and nighttime hours, and use fog lights where necessary. People are also encouraged to keep themselves adequately warm and stay updated with the latest weather advisories issued by relevant authorities.
