Nawaz Sharif returns to Pakistan after four years self-exile

ISLAMABAD: PML-N supremo’s and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has returned to the country after ending four-year self-imposed exile.

His chartered flight ‘Umeed-e-Pakistan’  touched down at Islamabad International Airport at 1:36 pm local time.

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif departed for Pakistan from Dubai airport via chartered flight FZ 425 at 10:42 am. The flight comprises 164 people with 16 of those seated in the business class.

The flight departed for Pakistan after a delay of 1 hour and 22 minutes from Dubai International Airport.

After staying at the Islamabad airport for two hours, Sharif will depart for Lahore.

The chartered flight would land at the Lahore airport at 3:20 pm where he would be accorded a warm welcome. The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) acquired the services of a private airline for a Boeing 737 chartered plane for the former premier.

Meanwhile PML-N convoy from Rawalpindi, comprising at least 70 buses have departed for Lahore.

The convoy gathered  at IJP Road and then departed for Lahore via the motorway. The convoy was led by PML-N leaders Hanif Abbasi and Chaudhry Tanveer.

Ahead of the departure, the party had organised breakfast for workers in different areas of Rawalpindi which consisted of Halwa Puri and Naan Channa.

Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address a public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan in the evening

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has made arrangements for flower showers using Cessna planes to welcome former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the provincial capital of Lahore.
