PML-N leaders criticize Sarfraz Bugti’s statement about Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders have strongly criticized Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti’s recent statement concerning their party’s leader, Nawaz Sharif, and urged the caretaker minister to focus on his official responsibilities.

On Monday, Bugti, in an interview with a news channel, stated that if Nawaz Sharif is denied bail by the courts upon his arrival in Pakistan on October 21, he would be subject to arrest.

In response to this statement, Punjab President Rana Sanaullah called on Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti to refrain from concerning himself with Nawaz Sharif’s affairs.

“Sarfraz Bugti should keep in mind the fate of Sheikh Rasheed before commenting on Nawaz Sharif,” responded Rana Sanaullah. He further claimed that the people of Pakistan had paid the price for the alleged conspiracy against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The PML-N leader advised Sarfraz Bugti to shift his focus to his official duties, emphasizing that Nawaz Sharif has consistently respected the rule of law in the country. Sanaullah added that the ultimate decision regarding Nawaz Sharif’s whereabouts upon his return to Pakistan would be determined by the public.

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously announced Nawaz Sharif’s planned return on October 21 and expressed his anticipation of a warm welcome for his brother.

Commenting on the situation, former Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb took to Twitter, stating, “Where Nawaz Sharif chooses to go upon landing is neither your concern nor your decision. Your role is to utilize your resources to ensure security and peace for the people.”

She further emphasized that the decision of Nawaz Sharif’s destination on October 21 would be made either by Nawaz Sharif himself or by the public. Aurangzeb also highlighted Nawaz Sharif’s status as a three-time elected Prime Minister of Pakistan and criticized the alleged false cases and baseless accusations brought against him.

She called for an end to personal animosity and urged Bugti to prioritize the welfare of the country over personal concerns.

In conclusion, she emphasized that the time had come to move beyond false propaganda and conspiracies that had caused great harm to the people since 2017.
