According to the police spokesperson, the attackers were identified as militants belonging to what the authorities refer to as ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’. The statement said the personnel on duty acted promptly and effectively, preventing the assailants from breaching the police station. Following the attack, a heavy police contingent, including personnel from the Al-Buraq force, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Rapid Response Force (RRF), reached the area and launched a search operation to trace the fleeing militants.

District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed lauded the officers and personnel deployed at the police station for their response to the attack. “The timely and effective action of the personnel present at the police station thwarted the terrorists’ attack,” he said.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, and the search operation in the area was continuing at the time of the police statement.
