Police investigate unusual statue in Karachi ahead of Yaum-e-Quds burning

KARACHI: Karachi police have launched an investigation into an unusual thermocol statue that appeared in Mehran Town, reportedly intended to be set ablaze during Yaum-e-Quds.

Authorities said the statue was commissioned by Allama Shabar Zaidi as part of a protest. Sculptor Imran has submitted a written statement to the police explaining the artistic and political intent behind the installation.

The figure, which is said to resemble Baal, an ancient deity, has sparked curiosity and concern among residents. While police continue to review the matter, local debates have intensified over the symbolism and purpose of the artwork.

Officials emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, and no legal action has yet been taken. Residents are urged to avoid speculation until authorities complete their inquiries.
