Police Martyrs Day being observed to honour fallen heroes

ISLAMABAD: Police Martyrs’ Day is being observed across the country to pay homage to police officers and personnel who have laid their lives in the line of duty.

Special prayers and ceremonies are being held in this regard and floral wreaths are being laid on graves and monuments of police martyrs.

The day is marked every year on August 4, which is the death anniversary of Frontier Constabulary commandant Safwat Ghayyur, who was martyred in a suicide attack in 2010.

Since 2007, over 1600 police officers and personnel embraced martyrdom in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone.

In Karachi, 950 police officers and jawans have sacrificed their lives while protecting the lives and property of the public.
