PESHAWAR: Police officers and lower cadre officials in Peshawar have been barred from using social media.
SSP (operations) Peshawar Kashif Aftab Abbasi has written a letter to all police officers regarding the social media policy, stating that police officers and personnel were using various social media platforms and some of them were also part of various unofficial WhatsApp groups.
The letter stated that attempts were being made to exert influence on the morale of the police by spreading false and sensational news through social media platforms.
In this regard, the letter said, the police officers and personnel should disassociate themselves from social media platforms and private WhatsApp groups.
Social media addiction: How can we avoid it?
The SSP operations has issued orders to police officers and personnel not to share any content on social media platforms.
According to the letter, only the police spokesperson will be authorised to liaison with the media.
“The activities of police officers and personnel on social media platforms will also be monitored, and strict action will be taken against those violating the orders,” the letter said.
