ISLAMABAD: The family of a man, who lost his life in a road accident on Margalla Road after his Mehran car was reportedly hit by a Revo being driven by an underage driver, has accused the Islamabad police of hushing up the incident.
The victim’s family has lodged a formal application with the Senior Superintendent of Police (operations) stating that despite the incident occurring five days ago, Shalimar police have yet to register a case.
The deceased, identified as Mumtaz, was travelling in his Mehran car when the speeding Revo Dala collided with his vehicle.

In his application, the complainant said that the accident occurred due to the “recklessness and negligence of the minor driver.”

According to the applicant, the SHO reportedly refused to register a case and instead offered monetary compensation to the victim’s family in exchange for dropping the matter.
The complainant alleged that the SHO also hurled threats of serious consequences if the family pursued legal action.
No official statement has yet been released by the police regarding the delay in registering the case or the allegations made against the SHO.
The SSP (operations) has sent the application to the police station to proceed with the case as the law.
The sources claimed the suspect is the son of a government official linked to a ‘powerful institution’
