Police repel attack on Mianwali Police Station, four terrorists killed

LAHORE: Punjab Police successfully thwarted an attack by Khawarij (terrorists) on the Chapri Police Station in Mianwali and killed four assailants.

According to an official statement issued by the Punjab police spokesperson, the incident occurred near the interprovincial border between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the Isa Khel Circle.

“A group of more than 20 heavily armed militants launched a surprise attack on the Chapri Police Station, using rocket launchers and hand grenades.  In the ensuing exchange of intense gunfire, the police killed four militants while ensuring the safety of all personnel inside the station. The militants’ assault damaged the building, but no casualties were reported among the police, aside from two officials who sustained minor injuries,” the spokesperson said.

Senior police officials, including District Police Officer Mianwali Akhtar Farooq, rushed to the scene following the attack. Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar praised the Mianwali police for their swift and effective response, commending their bravery in repelling the attack. 

“The Punjab police remain on high alert and will continue to thwart any nefarious designs of terrorists,” IG Anwar said, vowing to protect the province from those who seek to disrupt peace.
