Polish woman chooses Pakistan for love, converts to Islam

SARGODHA: A Polish woman has travelled to Pakistan to marry a young man from Bhalwal after their social-media friendship blossomed into love. The woman, originally named Mangorzana, embraced Islam and took the name Maryam before their marriage.

According to reports, Maryam and Matiullah, a resident of Bhalwal’s Manoor Hayat area, became friends online, and their bond gradually turned into a serious relationship. A few days ago, Maryam arrived in Pakistan to formalise their marriage.

She first accepted Islam at Jamia Masjid Hamid Shah under the supervision of religious scholar Qazi Nigah Mustafa Chishti. Later, the couple tied the knot in the Bhalwal Family Court in front of Judge Samar Hayat.

Maryam said she came to Pakistan on her own choice and embraced Islam without any pressure.

“I have taken every step with my own free will. I want to live with my husband and start a new life here,” she said.
