Pork meat confiscated from passenger at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs has seized a large quantity of pork meat from a foreign passenger at the Islamabad International Airport.

According to sources, Customs officials posted at the Islamabad airport on Saturday night seized pork meat from a passenger coming from the United Arab Emirates.

Customs Collector Naveed Elahi confirmed to HUM News English that the pork meat was seized from one Chinese passenger. He said that the seized meat was around 500 kilograms.

The sale, stock or business of pork meat is totally prohibited in Pakistan being an Islamic country.

Sources said that foreign nationals especially Chinese bring banned pork meat to Pakistan from different countries with the alleged connivance of staff posted at different airports to sell it to Chinese nationals living in Pakistan.

The Customs has increased the vigilance at the Islamabad airport. Recently, Customs authorities seized a large quantity of non-duty paid luxury Iphones from different passengers entering Pakistan.
