KARACHI: A power breakdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station has disrupted water supply to several areas of Karachi after a technical fault developed in the main valves of the K-II Pump House, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) said on Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson, the power outage caused a malfunction in the main valves, forcing authorities to temporarily shut down three major pumps at the K-II Pumping Station.

The disruption is expected to reduce the city’s daily water supply by around 100 million gallons, the spokesperson said.

Areas likely to face a temporary suspension of water supply include North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Buffer Zone, Block 13-D of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, and parts of Scheme 33.

The spokesperson said repair work was under way and water supply would be restored in phases once the maintenance was completed.
