ISLAMABAD: The Minister of Energy Owais Laghari has announced that electricity supply will remain uninterrupted for consumers during Sehri and Iftar hours throughout Ramadan. This move comes as part of efforts to make the holy month easier for households and businesses across the country.
The Power Division has issued detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all distribution companies, including K-Electric, to ensure smooth electricity supply.
All DISCOs (Distribution Companies) have been instructed to promptly address consumer complaints, and CEOs have been asked to establish control rooms to monitor power distribution in real time.
Special focus will be given to high-loss areas, with load management being carefully adjusted outside Sehri and Iftar hours. Measures against electricity theft will continue in these regions to prevent financial losses and increase efficiency.
The Power Division has emphasised that unannounced load-shedding must be avoided at all costs during the holy month, ensuring citizens can observe Ramadan without disruption.
Uninterrupted gas supply
Earlier in the month, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) also announced an uninterrupted gas supply during Sehri and Iftar hours to facilitate consumers during the holy month.
The decision has been taken to ensure that households face no difficulty in preparing meals at critical times of fasting, an official statement said.
The statement said that the gas supply for Sehri will be made available from 3:00 am, while a continuous supply during Iftar will also be maintained.
SSGC said that special arrangements have been put in place to manage demand during peak hours. Outside these specified timings, gas supply throughout the day will continue as per the normal schedule.
