PPP will form govt with independent candidates: Bilawal

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

SARGODHA: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari once again turned his guns at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, stating that the his party was competing with “Zia-ul-Haq’s Muslim League” in the election.

Addressing an election rally in Bhulwal, Sargodha, Bilawal mentioned that the old politicians were engaged in politics of hatred and division, pitting brother against brother.

He expressed that other political parties were not aware of the people’s conditions, whereas he was contesting elections based on his party’s manifesto.

If voted to power, he assured that he will act on all 10 points to combat poverty and unemployment. Bilawal criticized Nawaz Sharif who is aiming for the fourth term as prime minister, stating that he has not yet provided his manifesto, and the people have suffered three times under him.

Bilawal urged the youth not to waste their votes, questioning if they want to give their votes to someone aspiring to become the prime minister for the fourth time. He clarified that he was not making promises like old politicians and pledged to work for the welfare of the poor in the real sense. He questioned the fate of Pakistan, expressing concern about continued internal conflicts and emphasized the need for a different approach to achieve different results.

He highlighted the challenges his family faced, mentioning NAB cases and attacks on institutions. He emphasized the need to prevent political prisoners, expressing his refusal to imprison opponents’ sisters and daughters.

Bilawal stated that the competition was now between the Pakistan People’s Party and the late Zia-ul-Haq’s Muslim League. He announced to form a government with independent candidates, while the lion will sit in the opposition.

Earlier, in an interview with a foreign news agency, Bilawal discussed the impact of today’s decisions on the youth of Pakistan, suggesting that it would be better to allow them to make these decisions. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Pakistan’s youth, given that about two-thirds of the population of 241 million are under 30 years of age.

Regarding the question of providing 300 units of free electricity, Bilawal mentioned that despite financial constraints, the PPP has a plan to provide free electricity to the people. He also outlined solid plans for social protection programmes and a new development model for Pakistan in response to the threat of environmental change, all included in his manifesto.

Bilawal stated that Nawaz Sharif is giving the impression that he is relying on something other than the people to become the prime minister.

“Nawaz Sharif wants to become the prime minister for the fourth time through the back door, but we will stop his way,” he said expressing concerns over the transparency of the general election.

Two days ago, Bilawal also criticized Nawaz Sharif while addressing an election rally, stating that if Nawaz Sharif was voted to power, he would seek revenge that everyone would remember.

Responding to Bilawal’s claims, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s central leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, said in an informal conversation with journalists in Adiala jail that if Bilawal knew that Nawaz Sharif would engage in vindictive politics, then why did he take the oath of the foreign minister in the PDM government?”
