Pradeep Rawat’s passing sparks emotional reactions from Bollywood fans

WEB DESK: Bollywood fans took to social media to mourn the death of veteran Indian actor Pradeep Rawat, known for his memorable villainous roles, especially as Ghajini Dharmatma in Ghajini. The actor passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday at the age of 74 after battling blood cancer.
Several Bollywood personalities also paid tribute to the veteran performer, remembering his contribution to Indian cinema.
Ghajini star Aamir Khan shared an emotional tribute, saying, “Ghajini wouldn’t have worked without him.” Rawat’s portrayal of the ruthless antagonist Ghajini Dharmatma in Ghajini remains one of his most iconic and widely recognised performances.
Rawat appeared in more than 50 films across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil cinema. He made his film debut in 1985 with Aitbaar, where he played the role of a police inspector, before establishing himself as one of Indian cinema’s most notable character actors.
Actor Yashpal Sharma, who worked with Rawat in the critically acclaimed film Lagaan, also expressed grief over his passing and remembered his long-standing contribution to the industry.
Actor Thakur Anoop Singh paid tribute to Rawat, describing him as an inspiration and praising his fighting spirit. Singh wrote that the veteran actor “lived like a lion” while remembering his legacy.
Several other personalities also shared tributes, saying, “His powerful performances will continue to inspire generations. Rest in peace, legend. From Lagaan to Ghajini, Pradeep Rawat gave Indian cinema some of its most unforgettable villains.”
A fan wrote on social media, “Indian cinema has lost a truly remarkable performer. Pradeep Rawat ji will always be remembered for his powerful screen presence and unforgettable characters.”
Another tribute read, “Every performance reflected his exceptional talent and left a lasting impression on audiences. His presence on screen may be gone, but the characters he brought to life will remain unforgettable forever. Rest in peace, Pradeep Rawat ji.”
Throughout his career, Rawat worked predominantly in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil films. He gained recognition in Telugu cinema with the film Sye and went on to become one of the most sought-after actors for powerful antagonist roles.
