President, PM extend New Year greetings, call for unity and harmony

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended warm greetings to the nation on the start of the new year, expressing hope that the coming days will bring national unity, harmony, and prosperity.

In his New Year message, President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated the people of Pakistan and said that the new year dawns with prayers for happiness, progress, and the blessings and mercy of Allah Almighty. He said that the need for political reconciliation and offered to play a role in bridging differences among political forces.

The president said the time calls for reducing tensions rather than escalating them, adding that democratic forces must work together to restore trust and stability. He urged political parties to play a constructive role within parliament and contribute positively to the process of national reconciliation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, also congratulated the nation on the beginning of the new year and prayed that every day ahead brings the promise of national integrity and harmony. He expressed optimism about the country’s future and called for collective efforts to strengthen unity.

Referring to national defense, the prime minister said that the year 2025 would be remembered as a significant chapter in Pakistan’s history. He praised the armed forces for successfully thwarting hostile intentions and said they had set an example of courage and professionalism.

He added that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces and will continue to act as a solid wall in the defense of the homeland. Both the president and the PM reaffirmed their commitment to peace, stability, and progress as Pakistan enters the new year.
