President Sadyr Japarov arrives in Islamabad for two-day visit

ISLAMABAD: Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday evening for a two-day visit.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed him at Nur Khan Airbase.

President Japarov is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including senior ministers, top officials, and business leaders. His visit comes at the invitation of the Prime Minister.

During his stay, president Japarov is scheduled to meet president Zardari and prime minister Shehbaz. The Kyrgyz delegation is also expected to meet officials from both the military and political sides.

Several important agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit.

This is the first visit by a Kyrgyz president to Pakistan since 2005.

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan share long-standing ties based on deep cultural, historical, and spiritual connections. In August, both countries agreed to cooperate in cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital finance.

In July, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan also agreed during a meeting of their inter-governmental commission to raise bilateral trade to $100 million.

Both countries are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a 10-member Eurasian security and political group that includes China, Russia, India, and Iran.
