WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump’s visit to China has been cancelled amid the ongoing US strikes on Iran, the White House said.
Regarding this, President Trump has already informed the world, telling the reporters in the Oval Office, “We are resetting the meeting.” But he added, “We’re working with China. They were fine with it.”
The cancellation of the visit to China now mainly depends on the US foreign policy, as the US and Israel have carried out massive airstrikes and bombing in Iran, which, as experts expect, can be critical for the president as well.
Earlier, Trump had been expected to go on his first trip to Beijing since his second time arrival in the office and would stay there to agree on key MOUs in key areas. His stay in China was expected from March 31 to April 2.
But Trump said, “The trip will now take place in about five or six weeks.” The White House did not specify a date.
A Chinese embassy spokesperson in Washington said, “China and the US remain in communication on President Trump’s visit to China, including the dates.” “I have nothing to add at the moment,” he added.
