ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari visited the National Defence University (NDU) to address the participants of the 27th edition of the National Security Workshop.
The workshop, a key platform for promoting national discourse on security matters, brought together a diverse group of parliamentarians, senior civilian and military officials, and representatives from academia and civil society.
In his address to the participants, President Zardari congratulated them on the successful completion of the workshop. He praised their efforts in strengthening the understanding of national security issues. The President underscored that tackling Pakistan’s contemporary security challenges requires robust national unity and cohesive policy formulation. He emphasised that a unified national approach is essential to effectively address these complex issues.
Following his speech, President Zardari presided over the closing ceremony and distributed certificates among the graduating participants. The event, highlighted by the military’s media wing, ISPR, reinforces the workshop’s role as a critical forum for fostering informed dialogue on Pakistan’s security paradigm among the nation’s key stakeholders.
On November 23, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also addressed the delegation visiting GHQ, highlighting threats from hybrid warfare, sponsored terrorism, and information warfare. He asserted that Pakistan, as a dignified nation, would secure its rightful place, reiterating that national unity is the country’s greatest strength. The military’s top priority remains protecting citizens and borders, with no compromise on sovereignty. He commended the armed forces for their professional response, which has improved Pakistan’s global standing. The session also covered ongoing efforts against smuggling, narcotics, and illegal immigration.
