WEB DESK: On the occasion of the United Arab Emirates’ National Day, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari issued a congratulatory message, emphasizing the deep-rooted and growing fraternal ties between the two nations.
In his statement, President Zardari noted with pride that Pakistan was the first country to officially recognize the UAE upon its formation in 1971. He described the relationship as one founded on shared faith, mutual trust, and generational bonds that have been nurtured over decades. The President shared a personal dimension to this bond, revealing that his family has maintained a special connection with the UAE for four generations. He reflected that his mother, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, spent her final days in the Emirates, and his late wife, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, lived there in exile during difficult years. “Today, my daughter also calls the UAE her home,” he added.
President Zardari characterised Pakistan’s long-standing and warm relations with Emirati leadership as exemplary. He expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the vital areas of trade, investment, and defense. The President also commended the significant role played by the large Pakistani community in the UAE, describing it as a “strong bridge” linking the two brotherly countries. Concluding his message, President Zardari conveyed Pakistan’s prayers for the UAE’s continued peace, progress, and prosperity, reaffirming Pakistan’s desire to deepen this historic partnership.
