President Alvi seeks salary increase despite economic challenges

The move underscores the President’s determination to alleviate pressure on the national exchequer and promote prudent financial management in the country.

Interestingly, this stands in stark contrast to the actions of his predecessor, Dr Arif Alvi, who sought salary increases despite the prevailing economic hardships. Official documents reveal that President Alvi had pursued two raises, the first with effect from July 1, 2021, and the second from July 1, 2023.
