Prices of 20 essential commodities increase

ISLAMABAD: Prices of 20 essential commodities increased during the past week, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

In the same week, prices of eight items decreased while prices of 23 items remained stable, according to the PBS.

Sugar became costlier by Rs11.40 paisas, while jaggery increased by Rs5, and lentils became Rs5 more expensive per kilogram, as reported by the PBS.

Rice saw a two-rupee per kilogram increase, while LPG for household cylinders became costlier by Rs11, and eggs increased by Rs2 per dozen, according to the statistics.

Pulses saw an aggregate increase of Rs7 per kilogram increase, 20-kilogram bag of flour increased by Rs3, while a 5-kilogram can of cooking oil increased by Rs18, according to the statistics.

During the past week, potatoes, fresh milk, yogurt, and green gram also witnessed price hikes, according to the statistics department.

Tomatoes rose by Rs3 per kilogram, onions by Rs2, and garlic by more than Rs3, as reported by the PBS.

Similarly, bananas were priced at Rs3 per dozen, a 2.5-kilogram box of mangoes went up by Rs5, and live poultry saw a Rs5 per kilogram reduction, according to the statistics department.
