Private college student tops BIEK Science General Group exam

KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Thursday announced the results of the Intermediate Part-II annual examinations for the Science General Group, with a private college student securing the top position.

Jannat Bint Ali Dost of Concordia College, Gulshan-e-Hadeed Campus, clinched the first position in the group after obtaining 1,005 marks out of 1,100.

Hamza Shakil of Adamjee Government Science College secured the second position with 1,003 marks, while Laiba Zulfiqar of Bahria College, MT Khan Road, stood third with 989 marks. All the three students secured an A-1 grade.

BIEK Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho announced the results. The BIEK also uploaded the results on its website on August 27.

According to BIEK Controller of Examinations Zarina Rashid, a total of 18,913 candidates had registered for the Science General Group examinations, of whom 18,591 appeared in the exams.

Of those who appeared, 10,511 candidates were declared successful, with an overall pass rate of 56.54 per cent.

The results showed that 748 candidates secured an A-1 grade, while 2,193 obtained an A grade. A further 3,184 candidates secured B grades, 3,076 obtained C grades, 1,280 received D grades and 20 candidates passed with an E grade.

The strong performance of students from Adamjee Government Science College was also highlighted by the board chairman.

Lakho praised the institution after one of its students secured the second position in the Science General Group.

He said that the performance reflected the hard work of students, teachers and college principals, while expressing the view that the strong showing of students from government educational institutions in the examinations indicated an improvement in the standard of education in Sindh.

The announcement follows the release of results for several other Intermediate Part-II groups by BIEK this month, including Pre-Engineering on August 17, Humanities Regular on August 7 and Pre-Medical on July 31.

The Science General Group is one of the major faculties examined by BIEK and includes subjects such as mathematics and computer science.

The board’s 2026 model papers, for instance, include Computer Science as a Science General Group subject.

BIEK said that the Science General Group results have been made available through its official online result system and website. Students can access their results using the board’s online result facility.

With more than half of the candidates declared successful, the 56.54 per cent pass rate represents an improvement over the 55.59 per cent recorded for the Science General Group in the 2025 annual examinations.

The number of candidates appearing has also increased from 16,549 in 2025 to 18,591 this year.
