Aamir Awan, a well-known businessman and owner of Toyota Motors Islamabad, was fatally shot inside his Margalla Town farmhouse in the jurisdiction of Shehzad Town police station by unidentified assailants. Police sources confirmed that the attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Authorities, including forensic teams, arrived at the property to collect evidence and review CCTV footage, which reportedly shows the suspects entering the house. Police have launched operations to locate and apprehend those responsible.

Reports indicate that five armed men, carrying Kalashnikov rifles, were involved in the attack.

Speaking to the media at parliament, State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that crime rates in Islamabad have generally declined this year. He assured that the murder investigation would be thorough and updates would be shared with the public, noting that past violent cases in the capital had been successfully solved.

According to the FIR filed by Ayesha Awan, Amir Awan’s wife, the attack took place in the early hours of March 30. She explained that she and her husband were in their bedroom while their two sons, Asad and Aryan, slept in separate rooms. Around 2:45 AM, she awoke to noise and saw three armed men struggling with her husband inside the bedroom, while two accomplices waited outside a window. When she raised the alarm, the attackers opened fire, and Amir Awan was struck in the abdomen.

The couple’s sons ran to the bedroom upon hearing the commotion, causing the assailants to escape through the window. Outside, security guards Arman and Dawar attempted to intervene but were overpowered; the attackers also snatched weapons, cash, and mobile phones from the guards. Two other guards, Kaleemullah and Dawood, were confined to a room and had their belongings stolen.

Ayesha Awan described the suspects as young, well-built men with wheatish complexions and said she, her children, and the security personnel could identify them if presented by the authorities.

Aamir Awan was taken to PIMS Hospital, where he was treated in the emergency ward. He later succumbed to his injuries before a statement could be recorded.

The police have registered a case under Section 397 (robbery or dacoity involving deadly weapons or severe violence) of the Pakistan Penal Code and continue to investigate the murder.
