KARACHI: Karachi Kings secured a thumping 56-run victory over Quetta Gladiators in the eighth match of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) 10th edition, thanks to a half-century from James Vince and a dominant bowling performance.
Playing at the National Stadium in Karachi, Kings posted 175 for 7 after opting to bat first. Kings’ Captain David Warner and Tim Seifert gave the side a flying start with a 60-run opening stand before Warner fell for 31, caught by Faheem Ashraf off Abrar Ahmed. Seifert followed soon after, bowled by part-timer Saud Shakeel for 27.
The highlight of the innings was James Vince, who struck 70 off 47 balls, smashing a six and six fours. Mohammad Nabi chipped in with 18 runs, while Irfan Khan made 17. Khushdil Shah, however, failed to fire and was dismissed for just one run.
In response, Quetta Gladiators struggled from the outset, losing opener Finn Allen for 6 in the very first over to Mir Hamza. The wickets continued to tumble, and by the time the score reached 37, half of their batting lineup was back in the pavilion.
Captain Saud Shakeel remained unbeaten on 33 and was the only batter to offer any resistance. Mohammad Amir contributed 30, and Kusal Mendis added 12, but no other batsman reached double figures.
