PSL 10: Lahore Qalandars defeat Multan Sultans by five wickets


LAHORE: In the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans by five wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Lahore Qalandars’ skipper Shaheen Afridi won the toss and invited Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans to bat first.

Multan set a competitive target of 186 runs, finishing at 185 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Lahore chased down the target in the 19th over, losing five wickets along the way.

Daryl Mitchell starred with a match-winning knock of 64 runs, while Sikandar Raza contributed a vital 39. Fakhar Zaman scored 28, Abdullah Shafique chipped in with 34, while Mohammad Naeem managed six runs. Sam Billings was dismissed for a duck.

For Multan Sultans, Obaid Shah claimed two wickets, while Mohammad Hasnain and Josh Little picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Multan’s innings was powered by Mohammad Rizwan’s impressive 76 and Kamran Ghulam’s 52. Yasir Khan scored 24 runs, and Usman Khan added 18 to the total.

In terms of team changes, Mohammad Naeem returned to the Lahore Qalandars’ side, and Tom Curran made his PSL debut. Multan Sultans made three changes, bringing in Akif Javed, Mohammad Hasnain, and Shai Hope.

Lahore Qalandars’ playing XI included Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Naeem, Abdullah Shafique, Daryl Mitchell, Sam Billings, Sikandar Raza, Asif Ali, Tom Curran, Haris Rauf, and Asif Afridi.

Multan Sultans’ line-up featured Mohammad Rizwan, Shai Hope, Yasir Khan, Usman Khan, Kamran Ghulam, Michael Bracewell, Iftikhar Ahmed, Obaid Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Akif Javed, and Josh Little.

The two teams have now faced each other 20 times in PSL history, with Multan Sultans winning 11 matches and Lahore Qalandars securing nine victories.
