PSL 10: Peshawar Zalmi set 228-run target for Multan Sultans

RAWALPINDI: Peshawar Zalmi posted a massive total of 227 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs against Multan Sultans in the 9th match of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) 10th edition, setting a daunting 228-run target.

Batting first at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Zalmi’s top order delivered an aggressive performance. Tom Kohler-Cadmore led the charge with a brisk 52 off 30 balls, while Mohammad Haris contributed 45 runs. Abdul Samad chipped in with 40, and Hussain Talat added a quick 37.

Mitchell Owen also made a handy contribution with 34 runs, but captain Babar Azam and opener Saim Ayub were both dismissed cheaply for just 2 runs each.

For Multan Sultans, David Willey, Michael Bracewell and Ubaid Shah each picked up two wickets, but the bowlers largely struggled to contain the flow of runs on a batting-friendly surface.

Multan Sultans now face a steep chase of 228 to secure victory in what promises to be a high-scoring contest.

Yesterday, Karachi Kings secured a thumping 56-run victory over Quetta Gladiators in the eighth match of the PSL 10, thanks to a half-century from James Vince and a dominant bowling performance.

Playing at the National Stadium in Karachi, Kings posted 175 for 7 after opting to bat first. Kings’ Captain David Warner and Tim Seifert gave the side a flying start with a 60-run opening stand before Warner fell for 31, caught by Faheem Ashraf off Abrar Ahmed. Seifert followed soon after, bowled by part-timer Saud Shakeel for 27.

For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets. Mohammad Nabi and Abbas Afridi claimed 2 wickets each, while Mir Hamza and Aamer Jamal picked up one apiece.

During this match, Fast bowler Hasan Ali etched his name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the PSL, surpassing veteran pacer Wahab Riaz.
