LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators on Friday pulled off a thrilling five-run victory over Karachi Kings in the 15th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, defending a modest target of 143 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Batting first after being sent in by Karachi Kings skipper David Warner, Quetta Gladiators were bowled out for 142 in 19.2 overs.
Karachi Kings, despite a solid middle-order effort, could only manage 137-8 in their 20 overs.
Faheem Ashraf top-scored for Karachi Kings with a fighting 43 runs, while Kusal Mendis made 36 and Hassan Nawaz contributed 35.
However, none could steer the team across the finish line as Quetta Gladiators’ bowlers held their nerve in the final overs.
Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mohammad Amir, and Khurram Shehzad each picked up two wickets for Quetta Gladiators, playing a key role in restricting the chase.
Earlier, Karachi Kings’ Hasan Ali impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Abbas Afridi and Amir Hamza picked up two apiece.
This victory was a much-needed boost for Quetta, who had only one win prior to this match. Karachi, who had defeated Quetta by 56 runs in an earlier fixture, remain second on the points table with six points from three wins.
The overall head-to-head now stands at 13 wins for Quetta and 7 for Karachi in PSL history.
