RAWALPINDI: Quetta Gladiators outclassed Peshawar Zalmi by 80 runs in a one-sided encounter of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, successfully defending a massive target of 217 runs.
Chasing 217, Zalmi collapsed for just 136 runs. Saim Ayub was the only bright spot in the batting lineup, scoring 50 runs. Hussain Talat chipped in with 35, Mitchell Owen added 31, and Mohammad Haris managed 13.
Quetta’s bowlers delivered a dominant performance, with mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed grabbing four wickets. Mohammad Amir and Usman Tariq took two wickets apiece, while Kyle Jamieson claimed one.
This was first of the two PSL clashes scheduled for today. The second match will start at 8 PM at the Karachi National Stadium where Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans will face off.
In the PSL 10 opener on Friday, Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets.
Qalandars were restricted to 139 runs by Islamabad United with Abdullah Shafique’s fighting knock of 66 proving to be the only bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming batting performance.
After winning the toss, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan opted to bowl first, expressing uncertainty over the pitch in their opening game but confidence in his balanced squad. His decision paid off handsomely.
